Qu’nyido Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is at Qu'nyido in Jomda, eastern Xizang. The Qu'nyido Fm was named by Dong Deyuan et al. (1979). In 1967, Hu Zhaoxun first found the Early Ordovician graptolite at Qu'nyido County. Then Yao Zhaoqi et al. made a supplementary collection for the graptolite. Dong et al. (1979) restudied this area, and reported the type section.

Lithology and Thickness
In the type area, the Qu'nyido Fm is divided into three parts. The lower part, 723 m thick, is composed of black, grayish green and purple slate, and yields graptolites Didymograptus (Expansograptus) extensus, D. (E.) abnormis, D. (E.) hirundo, Isograptus victoriae lunatus (Lin Yaokun et al., 1982). The middle part is 461 m thick, and is represented by black thin-bedded crystalline limestone, dark gray, grayish green, purple slate and quartz sandstone intercalated with black slate. The upper part is 376 m thick, and is dominated by the thick-bedded quartz sandstone.

The Qu'nyido Fm is exposed in Jomda-Markam where it is conformably overlain by the Lower-Middle Devonian Haitong Gr
